This is not a particularly complicated drink, but still fun. Apple brandy on its own tends to make a pretty terrible old-fashioned because the apple brandy tastes sweet (even if it doesn’t really have much in the way of residual sugars), and this Aquavit, on its own, gets lost a bit in an old- fashioned.
Together, though!
Apple-Aquavit Old-Fashioned
1 ¼ oz Apple Brandy
1 ¼ oz Rolling River Spirits Bjørkevoll’s Holiday Aquavit
1 barspoon Demerara simple syrup
2 generous dashes of apple bitters
Build in a rocks glass over a large cube and stir for 10 seconds. Garnish as you see fit, but in the absence of ridiculously tiny apples and the time and inclination to cover them in caramel, an orange peel garnish would do nicely.
